The short version: this site has no accounts, no sign-up and no newsletter, so for an ordinary visit we hold nothing that identifies you. We do not sell data, and we do not build advertising profiles of individual readers. The longer version follows.
1. Who we are
This policy covers pkgoldrate.com, operated as an independent publisher of gold and silver market data. For any privacy question, contact us through our contact page.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
Only what you send in an email. If you contact us about a rate correction, a missing city or a partnership, we hold that message and your address for as long as the exchange is useful. There is no contact form storing submissions in a database, and no mailing list.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs — IP address, browser user-agent, requested URL, referrer and timestamp. These are standard web-server records kept briefly for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults.
- Analytics — aggregate page-view statistics that tell us which cities and tools are actually used. We look at totals, not individuals.
- A session cookie — issued by our application framework so that forms and security tokens work correctly.
Information stored on your device, not sent to us
If you open a city page, your browser stores that city's identifier in local storage so the city grid can highlight it on your next visit. This never leaves your device, is not transmitted to our servers and is not a tracking identifier. Clearing your browser data removes it. See our cookie policy for the full list.
3. Why we process this data
- To deliver the site — serving pages and keeping sessions functional.
- To keep it secure — detecting abuse, scraping and attempted intrusion.
- To improve it — understanding which pages readers need most so we prioritise correctly.
- To respond to you — answering correspondence you initiate.
Where a lawful basis is required, we rely on legitimate interests for security and aggregate analytics, and consent where local law requires it for non-essential cookies.
4. What we never do
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.
- We do not build or buy advertising profiles of individual visitors.
- We do not require an account to see any rate on this site.
- We do not add correspondents to marketing lists.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children.
5. Third parties
Our data provider
Rate data is fetched server to server. Your browser never contacts our data provider, so no information about you is shared with them.
Fonts and assets
Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which will see your IP address as part of that request. This is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Analytics and advertising
Where analytics or advertising is enabled, those providers process data under their own policies and may set their own cookies. We do not give them your email address or any information you have sent us directly.
6. Data retention
- Server logs — a short rolling window, then discarded.
- Analytics — retained in aggregate; individual-level records are not our concern.
- Email correspondence — kept while relevant, deleted on request.
7. Your rights
Where GDPR, UK GDPR or comparable legislation applies to you, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because we hold almost nothing about ordinary visitors, in practice this usually concerns email correspondence.
To exercise any right, get in touch through our contact page, from the address concerned. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Administrative access is password-protected, rate-limited against brute-force attempts and restricted to authorised accounts. Our data provider's API key is held server-side only and is never exposed to the browser. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the very limited data we hold.
9. International transfers
Our hosting, analytics and font providers may process data outside your country of residence. Where such transfers occur, they are covered by the relevant provider's safeguards.
10. Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change, and the last-updated date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be reflected here rather than communicated individually.
