About Us

Last updated September 2026

pkgoldrate.com publishes live gold and silver rates for Pakistan and for the international markets where Pakistani families live, work and send money home. We exist to answer one question quickly and honestly: what is gold worth right now, where I am?

Why we built this

Anyone who has tried to check a gold rate online in Pakistan knows the problem. You search, you land on a page buried under advertising, you scroll past three paragraphs of filler, and the number you finally find has no date, no source and no explanation of how it was reached. Half the time it disagrees with the shop down the road, and nothing on the page tells you why.

We thought that was worth fixing. Gold matters here in a way it does not in most countries. It is how families store savings when the currency is under pressure, how weddings are financed, and how wealth passes between generations. A number that casual is not good enough for a decision that consequential.

So we built the site we wanted to use: the rate first, the date and time next to it, and a full explanation of how the figure was calculated for anyone who wants to check our working.

What we publish

  • City-wise gold rates across Pakistan — 24K, 22K, 21K, 20K and 18K, priced per tola, per 10 grams, per gram, per masha and per ounce, for more than forty cities.
  • International rates — live prices for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UK, the USA, Canada and Australia, each in its own currency.
  • Silver rates — 999 fine, 925 sterling and 900 coin silver, nationally and city by city.
  • Bidding and asking prices — not just a single headline number, because the price you get when selling is never the price you pay when buying.
  • Tools that use the live rate — a jewellery price calculator with making charges and tax, a weight converter for tola, masha, ratti and ounces, and a Zakat calculator that applies both the gold and silver nisab.
  • Price history and trend charts — built only from closes we have genuinely recorded.

How we work

Everything traces back to a published method

We do not ask anyone to take our numbers on faith. We publish the provider we use, how often we poll it, the exact conversion constants we apply, the karat purity ratios, the per-city premium model and the limitations we know about. If you want to reproduce our arithmetic, you have everything you need to do it.

We are careful about the details others get wrong

Two conversion errors are endemic in this industry, and both cost real money:

  • The rounded gram factor. Several data feeds publish a gram-to-ounce constant of 0.0321. The true figure is 0.032150746, because a troy ounce is 31.1034768 grams. Using the rounded value makes every gram, kilo and tola figure roughly 0.16% too low — several hundred rupees on a single tola. We anchor on the troy ounce price, which is exact, and convert ourselves.
  • The wrong tola. Some feeds publish a "Pakistan tola" of 12.48 grams. Pakistani markets use the 11.6638 gram tola. Quoting the wrong one overstates prices by about seven percent.

These are unglamorous details. They are also the difference between a rate you can rely on and one you cannot.

We would rather show nothing than show something invented

If a figure cannot be refreshed automatically, we do not publish it. That is why you will not find crude oil prices, exchange volumes or platinum and palladium quotes on this site — we have no automated source for them, and a stale number presented as live is worse than no number at all. For the same reason, our charts and history tables stay hidden until enough genuine daily closes have accumulated. We never pre-populate them with a modelled back-series.

We correct things quickly

Errors happen. When a reader reports one, we investigate the same working day and fix it. Where a published Sarafa quote differs materially from our calculated figure, an administrator can enter the official number directly and it takes priority until the following day.

How we stay independent

We are a publisher, not a dealer. We do not buy or sell bullion or jewellery. We take no commission from any jeweller, exchange or broker, and no one can pay to have their rate, shop or product featured. Where the site carries advertising, it is clearly separated from the rate content and has no influence over the figures we publish or the order in which cities appear.

We also do not publish sponsored articles, guest posts or reciprocal links. If a page exists on this site, it is because we thought it was useful.

Editorial standards

  • Sourced. Every rate traces to a named provider and a documented calculation.
  • Timestamped. Every page shows when its figures were last refreshed.
  • Plain. We explain jargon — bid, ask, spread, nisab, wastage — rather than assuming it.
  • Bounded. We publish information, never financial advice, and we say so plainly in our disclaimer.
  • Correctable. Anyone can report an error and we act on it.

What we deliberately do not do

  • We do not tell you when to buy or sell. That is a licensed activity and it is not what we are.
  • We do not value individual pieces of jewellery remotely.
  • We do not publish rates we cannot keep current.
  • We do not put advertising above the first rate on the page.

Get in touch

Corrections, missing cities, data questions and partnership enquiries are all welcome through our contact page. Reader reports are the single most effective quality control we have, and most of the cities on this site were added because someone asked.

About Us — Frequently Asked Questions

Is pkgoldrate.com free to use?+
Yes, entirely. There is no account, no sign-up, no paywall and no premium tier. Every rate, chart, city page and calculator is available to everyone.
Do you buy or sell gold?+
No. We are a publisher, not a dealer or a broker. We do not sell bullion or jewellery, we do not take commission from anyone who does, and we do not accept payment for favourable placement.
How can you publish rates for so many cities?+
The underlying metal price is global. What differs between cities is the local cost of putting physical metal on a counter — transport, insurance, security and dealer margin. We model that difference per city as a documented premium, which you can read in full on our data sources page.
Why should I trust your numbers over a competitor?+
Because we show our work. Our methodology, conversion constants and per-city premiums are published openly, and we correct errors quickly when readers report them. We also document the two conversion mistakes most commonly made in this industry — the rounded gram factor and the incorrect 12.48 g tola — and avoid both.
Can I request a city that is not listed?+
Yes. Send us the city name through our contact page. Adding a city is straightforward once we can justify the local premium, and reader requests are how most new cities get added.
